The “PROGRESS” aviation plant began production of Ka-62 multipurpose civil helicopters

On March 11th, 2020 the "INTERFAX" press agency informed that the PAO " PROGRESS Arsenyev Aviation Company" started production of Kamov Ka-62 civilian multi-purpose helicopters. The pre-production batch will consist of six helicopters, two of which will be used for regional transport. Yuri DENISENKO, executive director of "PROGRESS", has informed that their delivery is scheduled for 2021. Earlier information suggested that "PROGRESS" is about to implement an investment program of 3.3 billion. RUB in 2020. The investments are intended for modernization of production and realisation of the “production of Ka-62 helicopter” programme, as well as complex development and extension of the spectrum of the aeronautical training centre activities. Sources near “PROGRESS” have reported that NOVIKOMBANK has begun financing the programme for serial production of Ka-62 helicopters in January 2020. Under a contract with JSC “Russian Helicopters”, the NOVIKOMBANK has provided "PROGRES" with a bank guarantee to obtain a loan from the Industrial Development Fund and approved a loan agreement of 5 billion RUB.

Ka-62 helicopter is designed for transporting up to 15 people at up to 600 km. It can also be used for air rescue services, cargo transport, patrols and environmental observation and evacuation. At the end of 2019, "KAMOV" design bureau - the manufacturer of the Ka-62 helicopter - started flight testing of the third production machine. In the foreseeable future, this helicopter, along with two previously produced Ka-62´s for flight tests, will begin the certification program.

The main scope of "PROGRESS" is the production of helicopters. Currently, the company produces a Ka-52 "Alligator" reconnaissance-attack helicopter and is preparing to produce Ka-52K "Katran" naval modification.
